Project Overview

Completed in 2008, the original fluorescent lighting in the premium 38 apartment complex was approaching the end of its life expectancy.

Following the successful changeover to LED downlights in the lobby & internal corridors in 2014, Resident Manager Lindsay Mann was keen to gain power and cost savings for other common areas - the underground resident & visitor carpark, fire stairs, driveway and outdoor corridors.

The existing car park, corridor & fire stair lighting was single & twin 36W T8 fluorescent battens, which mostly ran 24/7 with no controls. Metal halide floodlights lit the driveway which access the undercover carpark.

Testimonial

We have achieved monthly savings of $2,000 after installing the Chamaeleon light in our undercover car park, fire stairs and outdoor pathway areas. We were also impressed with the ease of changeover for both emergency batteries and the light fitting, which has further kept our maintenance costs down.

The Solution

enLighten Australia's QLD sales executive Tony Arhanic conducted a lighting audit and prepared a detailed return on investment analysis for the Body Corporate for an LED lighting upgrade.

The project received an Energex Peak Load Reduction payment of $2,722, as the Kangaroo point location was identified to fit within an eligible area of network constraint. The Energex payment is calculated on the reduced demand on their network during peak periods (peak demand) by replacing fluorescent lighting with more energy efficient LED lighting.

A mix of standard, emergency & permanently on Chamaeleon LED lights were installed according to the lighting need of the area. Both ceiling and wall mount fittings were used.

For the carpark entrance driveway, 75W metal halide light fittings were replaced by 65W Zorro and Chamaeleon lights.
