Car Park Entrance Lighting Control System (CECS)
Make your car park AS1680 compliant
Car park entrances are a high‑risk transition zone. Car park lighting is often overlooked as a road safety factor, yet critical design failures frequently occur at entrances and busy circulation zones. When entering a car park, a driver’s eyes must adjust quickly from bright daylight to a darker internal environment. This rapid change can cause temporary blinding, reducing a driver’s ability to react to obstacles or pedestrians - especially in areas with high foot traffic.
Australian Standard AS 1680 specifies maintained illuminance targets for indoor car park entrances: 800 lux for the first 15 metres during daytime, then 160 lux for the next 4 metres; and 160 lux for the first 19 metres at night. These targets help create a safer visual transition on entry and reduce the effects of glare and “black-hole” conditions.
CECS is a wireless car park entrance lighting control system using customised low bay luminaires, a twilight sensor, and an entrance controller to automatically deliver 800 lux during the day and 160 lux at night in line with AS 1680. A self‑configuring wireless mesh network connects each light so they can communicate with the controller (and with each other), and the luminaires and controller automatically connect when powered up; no additional setup required.
For added peace of mind, CECS includes a built‑in safety mode: if the master controller is damaged (for example, in an accident), the lights default to full output so the entrance is never under‑lit until the controller is replaced. With no control panels, no interconnecting wiring, and no commissioning, installation is straightforward, while smart control helps reduce energy use and ongoing maintenance costs.

Automatically adjusts lighting to meet AS 1680 entrance targets
Wireless mesh network - lights communicate with the controller and auto-connect when powered up with no additional setup required
True "set and forget" installation - no control panels, no interconnecting wiring, and no commissioning; simply mount the luminaires and walk away
Built-in safety mode - if the master controller is damaged, lights default to full output so the entrance is never under-lit
Smart-looking finish - a cleaner ceiling line that reduces clutter at the car park entrance
Installation support included - exact mounting locations for ceiling installations provided per project
Entrance controller + twilight sensor mounted at the car park entrance
Nyx low bay luminaires installed in the entrance zone, wirelessly linked via a mesh network

Car park entrance compliance guide
Car park entrances are a dangerous transition zone. AS 1680 sets maintained illuminance targets for indoor car park entrances: 800 lux for the first 15 metres during the day, then 160 lux for the next 4 metres; and 160 lux for the first 19 metres at night.
