Australian Technologies 2014 Competition Launched

The 2014 Australian Technologies Competition Open was launched in Sydney on March 13 at the Powerhouse Museum. Now in its fourth year, in addition to the main prize, the competition is offering category winners for the best technology in specific industries that enhances industry efficiency, resource use and competitiveness. These are:  1 / Energy Technologies Award  2 / Food Technologies Award 3 / Manufacturing Technologies Award   4 / Built Environment Technologies Award   5 / Mining Technologies Award.

MC James O'Loghlin moderated a panel discussion consisting of past competition winners & finalists including enLighten Australia, SilenceAir, Global Future Solutions, BluGlass Ltd & CINTEP.

enLighten Australia's Steve Cahill outlined how the 2012 award win gave him the confidence to expand the business, which has seen a 600 % growth in sales since the win. "Our customers have also valued the third party validation of our technology, which has helped us to be taken seriously as a specialist cleantech startup business" said Steve.

"We have increased our sales staff, expanded our product range & engaged international logistics & supply chain consultants to prepare our Chamaeleon and Cetus lights for international market entry from late 2014" said Steve. "

The competition has expanded the entry criteria to allow for companies with up to 100 employees to enter & will offer a busineses mentoring and  international market entry acceleration program for the top 30 entries including a trade mission to China in November.
